What happens when you bring a room full of creative people together?
Ideas are sparked. Collaborations begin. Projects take shape. Friendships are made. Sometimes, all it takes is one conversation.
Curated by Create North in partnership with The Light, The Light Salons are a new monthly series of relaxed, welcoming events where the North East’s creative community can meet, connect and collaborate. Inspired by the great artists’ salons of the past, these are gatherings for today—informal, inclusive and full of possibility.
This opening event is your chance to connect with fellow creatives from across the region, and hear how The Light plans to work with artists, makers, performers and creative practitioners in the years ahead. You’ll be welcomed by Programme Producer Ruth Chittenden who will introduce the gallery, share its ambitions and outline opportunities to get involved.
As part of your Salon experience, everyone who registers will receive an exclusive 50% discount tickets for Victory Over the Sun: Encounters with Light, The Light’s opening exhibition.
From then on, on the first Thursday of every month, The Light Salons will bring together artists, makers, musicians, writers, designers, performers, producers and cultural freelancers for an evening of ideas, inspiration and conversation. Expect artist spotlights, workshops, guest speakers, creative provocations and plenty of time to chat over a drink. Whether you’re looking for collaborators, hoping to share a new idea or simply want to meet like-minded people, you’ll find a warm welcome.
Together, Create North and The Light believe creativity flourishes when people have the time and space to connect. The Light Salons are about building a stronger, more connected creative community—one conversation at a time.
