Creativity Works

A year long programme of creativity and enterprise in South Durham

Create North is delighted to announce that we’ve been awarded funding from South Durham Community Led Local Development Fund and Arts Council England to deliver a yearlong programme of creative enterprise activity for creative practitioners and creative business living in or based in South Durham.

We’ve badged the project Creativity Works and we want to start the ball rolling by talking to creative practitioners and creative business in the area to ensure that we maximise the opportunities the initiative could create for creative enterprise in the area.

With that in mind, we would like to invite artists and creative practitioners to attend a Meet Up on Thursday the 3rd February at 2pm at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.

We will be providing lots of information on the project at the meeting and creating opportunities for participants to discuss how it might be shaped in response to their needs / aspirations.

Here is a flavour of what Creativity Works will be offering:

  • Hosting creative residencies
  • Running creative enterprise programmes
  • Sign posting participants to additional resources
  • Offering advice on accessing funding
  • Providing mentoring and coaching
  • Facilitating networking
  • Creating opportunities for participants to develop, showcase, exhibit or perform new work
  • Offering £20,000 of grants funding to enable participants to develop new ideas.

To support the delivery of this project, we have commissioned a range of successful artist to join our team who will be offering insights into how they have generated income from their practice and developed sustainable creative enterprises.

We have also partnered up with the major arts and cultural organisations in the area, who are all very keen to explore how they might work with the creative community to develop creative and commercial opportunities together.

The project is aimed at:

  • people who are new to, or recently returning to creative practice
  • people considering creative career options
  • emerging and established creative practitioners
  • creative SME’s
  • established creative/cultural organisations within the project area

The programme will cater for individuals working in a diverse range of creative activities including visual arts, crafts, digital arts, music, performing arts, writing, dance, florists, tattoo artist, and radio…….

If you’d like to attend, please register using the link below so that we can make sure we have enough refreshments for the meeting.

If you can’t make the meeting, but would like to know more, please drop Jane an email and she will get back to you:  jane@createnorth.co.uk

We very much hope you can join us for our launch event.

The Creativity Works project is funded through South Durham Community Led Local Development Programme as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020
