Event Details

New opportunities for artists and creative practitioners who are inspired by the coast.

Switch off from the day to day routines of running your business and invest time exploring how you can make the most of the cost to develop your creative practise at a free creative enterprise workshop in sea side resort of Amble

The natural beauty and wildlife of our coastlines has inspired artists for generations, and continue to ignite the imagination today. In that creative tradition, Create North is supporting the development of a major new walking trail of public sculptures inspired by the coastal bird-life found around Amble. Created by nationally and internationally renowned artists, these exciting new artworks will be bringing something unique and very special to the area.

The trail will be launched this autumn, and will artistically showcase the diversity of birdlife found in the local landscape through a range of sculptural, sound / music, text/ poetry and digital technology platform experiences. It will be a ‘must see’, immersive experience that brings a heightened awareness to audiences of the relationship between the landscape and the world of ornithology, accompanied by a community engagement programme.

As a significant investment in public art in the area, the trail and accompanying activities represents a great, new opportunity for local artists to capitalise on this investment and the national profile that the trail will create.

Over the course of this workshop you will:

  • Gain a deep knowledge of the artworks and the birdlife which has inspired them
  • Learn about commissioning opportunities linked to the trail and how the engagement programme presents an opportunity to showcase work
  • Explore the potential of the area’s birdlife to inspire new creative and commercial opportunities
  • Generate ideas for creative products and services with differentiated audiences in mind
  • Find out how other artists pursuing similar lines of enquiry have successfully developed their practice and new income streams

As part of this event, you get to walk parts of the trail and network with other peers.

This course is free, but places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
