Create North are delighted to announce that we have collared Durham County Council Community Cultural Events Funding to deliver, Barking, a celebration of dogs in art at Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Garden.
Barking will open at the end of March with a day of activities for those who know who man’s best friend is! It will include dog themed workshops, dogs in films and a market for all things linked to dogs followed by a month-long exhibition all about dogs in art (both through history and specifically in County Durham) in Ushaw’s outdoor exhibition space which can be visited by dogs and their people.
To kick Barking off we’ll be holding a workshop for creatives who are interested in exploring how the event, exhibition and the fact that we are a nation of dog lovers might create commercial and creative opportunities them.
During the workshop we’ll outline in more detail what will be happening throughout Barking and take inspiration from how other artists have turned dogs into commercial success.
This workshop is free but places are limited so book your place early to avoid feeling black dogish
