Sally Wheatley – Live performance at Ushaw!
As part of its Festival of Creativity at Ushaw, Durham Creatives is hosting an evening of live music and poetry which is open to all.
Sally Wheatley is a musical collaboration between Johny Brown (Band of Holy Joy) and Gary Chaplin (Quarterlight). A narrative song cycle, Sally Wheatley was first performed on Holy Island during the Pilgrimage to the Islands Festival earlier this year. This performance will feature new material which expands upon the story of Sally and the battle between her suitors. Fusing traditional song with electronic and acoustic sounds, Sally Wheatley is a unique, genre-defying musical experience which will also feature specially commissioned visuals by Sean Keeble.
Support will be provided by Quarterlight with an expanded line up performing new material and songs from their back catalogue. Poet Ian Horne will be your MC for the evening.
Great entertainment, great venue – don’t miss out!
