Creative Provision for Care Experienced Children
Creative Provision for Care Experienced Children living in County Durham: a new research project.
Can you help?
Creativity Works is currently working on a project in partnership with Durham’s Children’s Social Care to try and understand what creative activities young people (particularly those aged 14-25) who have experience of the care system are interested in and whether they are able to take part in these activities.
Our goal is to assess whether the needs of care experienced children and young people are being met by the creative sector and, if not, to share insights from the research with the creative sector and Children’s Social Care and explore how provision might be developed to meet these needs.
A number of different people are contributing to the project, including: care experienced young people; the people who support and work with them, like foster carers and social workers; and, arts-based cultural organisations providing services in County Durham.
If you are a creative or cultural organisation providing opportunities for young people to engage in the arts, creativity or cultural activities and would like to contribute to or learn from the research initiative we would be delighted to hear from you.
In the first instance, we are asking providers to fill in this questionnaire. Everyone involved in the research project will be invited to a dissemination event at the end of the project where we will share our learning.
Don’t worry if you are not sure if your provision is currently being accessed by care experienced children, we still want to hear from you.
