Event Details

There are still myths and inaccuracies regarding apprenticeships, especially in cultural sectors where they are still relatively new. They may appear complex and daunting at first, but can be exceptionally rewarding and beneficial, for both employer and apprentice.

This is an information session for employers, organisations, entrepreneurs and freelancers who want to understand more about how apprenticeships work.

To deliver the workshop, Create North is pleased to welcome Melanie Shee of Creative and Cultural Skills, which works across Britain to create fair and inclusive opportunities within the sector.

In this 90-minute session, Melanie will give you a solid foundation to understanding apprenticeships, with practical steps to introducing them to your organisation.

The session, open to Q&As throughout, will work through:

  • The basics of what an apprenticeship is, who they are for, and how they are delivered
  • Why apprenticeships are important
  • Understanding and working with Apprenticeship Standards
  • How the Apprenticeship Levy works
  • Working with the Apprenticeship Service (England only)

Melanie will also provide information about additional advice available and will highlight 1:1 support available free of charge to cultural sector employers in England.

The workshop and subsequent support is available thanks to funding provided by Arts Council England.
