Join photographer and cyanotype artist Elaine Vizor to explore the magical world of vintage cyanotypes.
Over the course of this two-day workshop Elaine will:
- Introduce you to the fascinating history of the cyanotype process and its place in photography, science and art
- Teach you how to prepare your own cyanotype papers and create beautiful images using a variety of techniques
- Introduce you to creating pictures on acetates to use in the cyanotype process
- Talk about her own work and share insights into how she has generated income from her art
Throughout the workshop you will explore the idea of creating prints that explore your personal culture using found objects and pictures that you have created. By the end you will have produced a range of your own Cyanotype prints, both traditional and contemporary.
Elaine is a digital photographer (mainly straight documentary photography but with a fascination for unconventional rule-breaking and abstract Light Painting photography), who has developed a passion for the cyanotype process and Camera Obscura (she and Duncan Vizor designed and built their own portable Camera Obscura). Her work has been exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery and the Houses of Parliament but can be seen more locally in permanent exhibitions at Aycliffe Fabrications and Killhope Lead Mining Museum.

The workshop is free to people or businesses in the South Durham area. Refreshments (including lunch on day 2) and materials will be provided.
